Gloss Tools / Restock Quantity Planner

Plan how many packs to restock

Enter observed use and current stock to review a restock estimate under a fixed-average-use assumption.

Inputs are processed on this page. This version does not save data. Changing language or leaving clears the draft. Initial loading still needs the website files.

Set the planning period

Use the observation total to estimate fixed average use. The order becomes available at the end of the lead period. Desired coverage starts after arrival.

1–365 days; matches each item's observed use.
0–365 days until the order is available.
1–365 days; excludes the lead period.
Calculation method and limits

Target units = observed use × (lead days + coverage days) ÷ observation days + safety reserve. Subtract current stock, then round up to whole packs, with a minimum of zero packs. Decisions use exact integer ratios. Daily use is displayed to three decimal places with half-up rounding.

Shortage before arrival excludes the new order. Whole days of stock use current stock and fixed average use, without deducting reserve. Runway is not estimated at zero use. This version does not handle incoming orders, multiple warehouses, unit conversion or changing demand. It is an estimate, not a demand forecast.

Enter use and stock for each item

1 / 30 items

Use ASCII whole numbers. An empty field is not zero. Use the same unit for every quantity in an item. Maximum: 30 items.

Item 1

Fill in each item, then select “Calculate restock.” Nothing has been calculated yet.

Common questions

How does the planner estimate the number of packs?

It estimates a fixed average from observed use, includes lead time, desired coverage after arrival and safety reserve, subtracts current stock, then rounds up to whole packs. It is an estimate from your inputs, not a demand forecast.

Can it calculate when observed use is zero?

Yes. Stock runway is not estimated at zero use. Safety reserve still counts toward the target, so an order may still be suggested.

Are incoming orders included in current stock?

No. This version uses current stock only and does not handle incoming orders or multiple warehouses. A changing usage rate may make the fixed-average estimate inaccurate.
